" City Airport Lands Air Wales New Daily Flights to Cardiff "

Newsletter - 3rd April 2003

AIR Wales has announced that it is to begin a new twice daily service from Belfast City Airport to Cardiff from the end of this month.

The operator, which currently flies to Dublin and Cork from Swansea, Cardiff and Plymouth plans to offer an early morning and late evening flight to the Welsh capital each weekday - with one flight on a Sunday.

The choice of Belfast City Airport is the airline says ''perfect for business and pleasure users as it is so close to the city centre''. Flights are due to begin on April 28.

Meanwhile, the British Airway service operated by Maersk from Belfast International to Birmingham is to stop this Sunday. A spokesperson said that the consoldation exercise was due to the current difficult economic climate and was a purely commercial decision.

In other airline news, BMI, the UK's second largest full scheduled airline has announced a codeshare agreement with Spanair and and LOT Polish Airlines. The deal means LOT will codeshare BMI's services from London Heathrow to Belfast.
