"Dublin air link takes off"

Belfast Telegraph - 21st May 2003

THE proposed new air service between Belfast and Dublin is to start in less than a month's time, it was announced today.

Aer Arann Express said its two flights a day service would start operations from Belfast City Airport on Wednesday June 18.

The journey time will be 40 minutes and flights will leave Belfast City at 8.15am and 4.55pm Monday to Friday.

The airline said fares would start at £60 return, which compares with the current First Plus overnight return on the Enterprise of £55.

The ATR42 48-seater aircraft which will operate the service will be based in Dublin, with flights from there to Belfast at 7.15am and 3.55pm.

Padraig O'Ceidigh of Aer Arann Express said they were confident they could capture a substantial percentage of the market for travel between Belfast and Dublin.

The development was welcomed by InterTradeIreland which predicted strong business support for the service.
