Airline unveils new service to Liverpool

Northern Ireland passengers wanting to fly to Liverpool will now have a choice
of two airlines following today's announcement that flybe. is to provide a
service on the route from February.
Its four times daily service to John Lennon Airport from Belfast's City Airport will mean a head-to-head clash with Easyjet on the route.
Flybe. is the largest airline operating out of Belfast City Airport and Liverpool will be its 11th direct destination from the province.
Andrea Hayes, flybe. general manager market development said, "Flybe.'s move is part of its ongoing commitment to providing an unrivalled low-cost airline service to all the major regional population centres of the UK.
"As the second largest route from Northern Ireland, with over half a million passengers travelling to Liverpool annually, this new service is an appropriate addition to flybe.'s already comprehensive and growing UK network."
The Belfast City to Liverpool service, set to start on February 10, 2005, will provide four flights daily bringing an extra 200,000 seats to the market annually. On sale from today at www.flybe.com the lead-in fares start at £19 one way including charges.
Gerry Lennon, chief executive of the Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau said: "The addition of flybe. flights between Belfast and Liverpool is good news for the city. The GB market is very important to the development of tourism in Belfast and direct flights are essential, bringing in increasing numbers of both business and leisure tourists".
A spokesman for Belfast City Airport said: "The decision by flybe. to operate a Liverpool service from Belfast City Airport is excellent news for the Northern Ireland traveller."
Other routes serviced by flybe. from Belfast include London Gatwick, Glasgow,
Edinburgh, Bristol, Birmingham, Exeter, Southampton, Leeds, Newcastle and
the Isle of Man.
